Position Summary
Reporting to the Project Manager, the Foreman, a supervisory team member, provides leadership under the direction of the Project Manager.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- As the Foreman, you manage the Rankin Construction Inc. (RCI) crew, reporting to the Project Manager.
- You provide consistent and accountable management, including staff scheduling,
compliance with policies, procedures and legislation, and actively work to maintain positive labour management relations within a unionized environment.
COMPLIANCE- LEGISLATION, POLICY REQUIREMENTS AND COLLECTIVE AGREEMENT
- Understand and ensure compliance with all legislation and regulatory requirements,
including the Occupational Health and Safety Act and all Applicable Regulations.
- Provide the appropriate training to ensure that organizational policies and procedures are followed as required in the specified legislation and applicable regulation.
- Adhere to the conditions specified in the Union (s) collective agreement.
OPERATIONS OR SITE MANAGEMENT
- In consultation with the Project Manager, ensure compliance with policies, procedures and legislation.
- Provide all day-to-day management functions for the crew, including work planning and assignments.
- Conduct hazard assessments, workplace investigations etc.
- Accurately complete all necessary paperwork.
- Conduct a job hazard assessment for theft loss potential is mitigated.
- Ensure all RCI Equipment and Rented equipment is secured at the end of the working shift against theft or vandalism.
HEALTH AND SAFETY/HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT
- Work with the Project Manager to set performance and Health & Safety standards for the crew.
- Ensure that all staff are provided with the correct orientation and training to carry out their responsibilities.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and ongoing feedback.
