  • Strong knowledge of the trade

  • Leadership, planning, delegation, and instruction

How To Get There

To become a Foreman, you’ll need to meet the following requirements.

  • A high school diploma (or equivalent)
  • At least four years of experience in your desired trade
  • Some roles require leadership training

What You’ll Do

  • Allocate responsibilities (generally and day by day)
  • Ensure enough people and resources are on site to complete the day’s work
  • Schedule crews and monitor their attendance and performance
  • Coordinate tasks in adherence with project plans
  • Supervise and train workers and tradespeople
  • Report project progress to managers, engineers, and other key stakeholders
  • Resolve problems as they arise
  • Guarantee adherence to safety and quality standards
  • Monitor expenses (and stay within budget)
  • Oversee the use of heavy machinery and other equipment
