  • Review upcoming tenders, select for bidding, review with senior management, estimate the project from start to finish including the submission of the tender.
  • Estimating cost of materials, labour and equipment for construction projects based on contract bids, quotations, schematic drawings and specifications.
  • Accurately interpreting detailed technical specifications for bid documents.
  • Full quantity take-offs, ensuring timely and accurate estimates, proposals and bid documents.
  • Adhering to the tendering process and setting up cost monitoring reporting systems and procedures.
  • Generating Requests for Information (RFIs) to the Client/Engineer of Record on scope elements related to construction package. Lead the response and closure of associated RFI’s.
  • Gathering quotes from various subcontractors and suppliers and implementing them into bids.
  • Liaise with Owners/Contract Administrators and clients during the entire bidding process.
  • Understanding the labour variances between project types and apply appropriate corrective factors.
  • Assembling all elements of an estimate including a lead sheet to summarize all the elements.
  • Debriefing with the Chief Estimator after award of contract/job to discuss quoted material.
  • Participating in presentation of estimates/proposals to senior management.
  • Perform PM/CA for all projects, including preparation of contracts and purchase orders, tracking project costs, attending site meetings, ordering materials, client invoicing, dispute resolution, and other related project management tasks.
  • During project construction, liaise, consult and communicate with Site Supervisors for cost maintenance and future pricing; provide pricing and cost assistance for requested potential changes in scope.
  • Understand thoroughly the plans, specifications, work schedules, cost estimate and scope of activities for which Slipform Construction has been contracted to perform.
  • You shall instruct all field supervisors to ensure the performance of the work.
  • Ensures that all project work and related activities are performed in accordance with the contract documents and above the standards set out for quality and workmanship.
  • Ensures that all work is planned and performed in accordance with company safety policy including OHSA, local legislation and union agreement.
  • Understand the scope of work and convey to supervisors and or crews, types of work, accurate amount of materials required, job specification, method of payment and any other special contractual requirements.
  • Ensure mix design have been submitted, reviewed and approved prior to mobilization.
  • Ensure job orders have been prepared and properly distributed to foreman.
  • Ensure time sheets have proper item and job numbers for billing and costing purposes.
  • Work with Site Superintendent so that someone has checked ahead of crews to ensure projects are properly graded and ready to start.
  • Provide Supervisors/Foreman guidance and mentoring to staff and identify upcoming starts
  • Review contract documents, contract drawings, specifications, addendum, geotechnical information and specifications to maintain familiarity with assigned projects. Be able to assess the project needs, the major milestones and constraints.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of all bids and projects, ensuring pre-qualification questionnaires and all tender documents are completed.
  • Draft and review bid submission content and ensure all bids are submitted on time and compliant with requirements.
  • Ensure proposals are formatted and comply with tender guidelines, requirements and follow internal quality guidelines.
  • Oversee administration of multiple active construction projects from conception to completion and warranty phases including direct communication with clients, sub-consultants, and contractors.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope and budget.
  • Develop and manage project plan to meet satisfactory completion of work, project milestones and schedule adherence.
  • Consult with owners, managers, sub-contractors and consultants to resolve day-to-day construction/design issues.
  • Advise owners and manager of perceived changes in the contract conditions and/or the proposed scope of work and generate estimates for such changes.
  • Coordinate resources for the project site (i.e. equipment, products, tools, deliveries).
  • Prepare and obtain competitive prices for all purchase orders and subcontractor agreements for the project.
  • Coordinate the production of information packs for mobilization/operational team handovers to include all aspects of the operational solution and liaison on all key matters on the contract.
