Description

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Concrete Foreman/Supervisor for an existing vacancy to oversee concrete construction activities for our heavy civil projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of concrete construction methods and materials, as well as experience managing and motivating crews. In addition, the Supervisor provides leadership and is responsible for safety, scheduling, workforce planning, coordinating, supervising and assisting in cost control; ensuring the consistent and fair application of all company policies and procedures. The successful candidate will commence work at the start of the 2025 season.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Safety Leadership: Ensure strict adherence to all safety regulations and company policies. Promote a proactive safety culture on the job site.
  • Project Oversight: Plan and manage all aspects of concrete construction, including formwork, rebar placement, concrete pouring, finishing, and curing.
  • Crew Management: Supervise and direct concrete crews, ensuring efficient and high-quality work. Provide clear instructions and guidance to team members.
  • Quality Control: Monitor and inspect concrete work to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
  • Scheduling: Develop and maintain project schedules, coordinating with other trades and subcontractors to ensure timely completion.
  • Cost Control: Track project costs and identify potential savings opportunities.
  • Equipment Management: Oversee the use and maintenance of concrete equipment and tools.
  • Reporting: Prepare daily reports on project progress, safety incidents, and any issues that arise.
  • Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with project stakeholders, including management, project coordinators, and inspectors.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience: Must possess at least five (5) years in concrete with a minimum of one (1) year of direct management/supervisory experience of direct reports. Three (3) or more years preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of concrete construction methods, materials, and industry standards.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead and motivate crews, delegate tasks effectively, and maintain a positive work environment. Must possess a strong knowledge of scheduling and planning, and excellent time management skills.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to apply effective problem solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve issues quickly and efficiently.
  • Safety: Commitment to safety and a thorough understanding of relevant regulations.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid Ontario driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • A working knowledge of heavy civil project construction scope and objectives.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and interpret specifications for the project.
  • Physical ability to perform demanding work on a construction site.
  • Ability to work on average ten (10) hours per day, five days (and occasionally six days) per week.

COMPENSATION:

  • Excellent wage with pension and benefits.
  • Company pickup truck and fuel card.
  • Starting hourly rate will be determined by experience.
