Description

We are seeking an experienced Heavy Civil Construction Foreman/Site Supervisor for an existing vacancy. The successful candidate will directly supervise and coordinates the activities of field employees in a municipal sewer/water/road/highway and commercial/industrial site servicing construction environment. In addition, the individual will lead and motivate their crew, and be responsible for safety, scheduling, workforce planning, coordinating, supervising and assisting in cost control; ensuring the consistent and fair application of all company policies and procedures. The successful candidate will commence work at the start of the 2025 season.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Safety Leadership: Ensure strict adherence to all safety regulations and company policies. Promote a proactive safety culture on the job site.
Project Oversight: Plan and manage all aspects of construction.
Crew Management: Supervise and direct their crew, ensuring efficient and high-quality work. Provide clear instructions and guidance to team members.
Quality Control: Monitor and inspect work to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
Scheduling: Assist in the development and maintenance of project schedules, coordinating with other trades and subcontractors to ensure timely completion.
Cost Control: Track project costs and identify potential savings opportunities.
Equipment Management: Oversee the use and maintenance of equipment and tools.
Reporting: Prepare daily reports on project progress, safety incidents, and any issues that arise.
Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with project stakeholders, including management, project coordinators, and inspectors.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience: Must possess at least five (5) years in construction with a minimum of one (1) year of direct management/supervisory experience of direct reports. Three (3) or more years preferred.
Technical Skills: A working knowledge of project construction scope and objectives to include water/sewer/road construction and reconstruction. An understanding of concrete placement and finishing, asphalt placement, etc is considered an asset.
Leadership: Proven ability to lead and motivate crews, delegate tasks effectively, and maintain a positive work environment. Must possess a strong knowledge of scheduling and planning, and excellent time management skills.
Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to apply effective problem solving and conflict resolution skills
Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve issues quickly and efficiently.
Safety: Commitment to safety and a thorough understanding of relevant regulations.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Valid Ontario driver’s license with a clean driving record.
A working knowledge of heavy civil project construction scope and objectives.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and interpret specifications for the project.
Physical ability to perform demanding work on a construction site.
Ability to work on average ten (10) hours per day, five days (and occasionally six days) per week.

COMPENSATION:

Excellent wage with pension and benefits.
Company pickup truck and fuel card.
Starting hourly rate will be determined by experience.
