Position: Sewer and Watermain Mainline Topman
Location: Toronto, GTA

Job Description: As a Sewer and Watermain Mainline Topman, you will play a crucial role in assisting the crew in the installation, repair and decommissioning of various sewer and watermain projects. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the construction team to contribute to the successful completion of various infrastructure projects.
Main Duties:
• Organization:
o Constantly observe sewer and watermain installation and production in trench and continually prepare all materials required ahead of time to complete the works so that production is not compromised
o Conducting elevation shots, reading grade, shooting the line and ensuring pipe is being properly placed in the ground
o Providing continuous inspections of pipes for cracks, problems with gaskets and any other deficiencies prior to lowering into the trench
o Responsible for cutting and preparing pipes and fittings for installation
o Assisting Pipelayer with installation as needed, locating utilities, and other duties as assigned by the Foreman
o Safely securing all loads by properly rigging pipes, manholes and other materials and equipment for crane/backhoe before being lowered into or removed from the trench
o Maintain orderliness, cleanliness and safety at jobsite

• Team Collaboration:
o Work closely with the construction team, including equipment operators and labourers, to ensure smooth project workflow
o Communicating with the Foreman, Operators, and all crew members
o Ensures that materials for Pipelayer and other workers are ready as needed on the job site
o Works closely with other crew members using hand signals to coordinate work and ensure safety
o Follow Supervisor’s instructions closely

• Safety Compliance:
o Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to create a safe and secure work environment

Required Qualifications:
• Proven experience and knowledge of pipe laying techniques, excavation, and grading
• Worked as a Sewer and Waterman Pipelayer in the construction industry
• Demonstrate organizational skills with strong knowledge and expertise
• Strong work ethic, good communication skills, and ability to work with in a team setting
• Good health and physical condition
• Works well independently and collaboratively on small or large-scale projects
• Reliable, responsible, and trustworthy
• Physically fit and able to work outdoors in various weather conditions – must be able to stand, lift 50 lbs., carry, bend, and reach
• Punctual and available to work a minimum of 10 hours per day, 5 days per week
• Must maintain a valid G driver’s license
• Must be willing to commute to anywhere the work is in the GTA
Good to have:
• In-depth knowledge and practice of OHSA safety standards and precautions
• Minimum of 1 year experience in sewer or watermain projects
• Safety training certificates such as First Aid/CPR, WHMIS 2015, Working at Heights, etc.
Work Conditions:
• Traveling to various sites in the GTA will be required.
• Outdoor environment in various weather conditions.
• Weekend and evening work may occasionally be required.
Education Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Relevant certification or training in pipelaying and construction
