Sewer and Watermain Pipelayer

Job Description: As a Sewer and Watermain Pipe Layer, you will play a crucial role in the installation, repair, and decommissioning of sewer and watermain systems. You will be responsible for laying, aligning, and sealing pipes, ensuring that they meet project specifications and quality standards.

Main Duties:

• Working in conjunction with excavator operator to ensure subgrade elevation and slope is acceptable to receive bedding stone prior to pipe installation
• Grade the bedding stone correctly to make certain sewer pipes will be installed precisely
• Aligning pipes and checking grades during pipeline construction using pipe laser to confirm the pipe has been installed accurately
• Installing manholes, chambers, box culverts, shafts, and all related appurtenances
• Use hand tools such as jumping jacks, plate tampers, pumps, etc. whenever necessary
• Perform all other construction laboring duties when required
• Reporting directly to the Foreman and will be responsible for the installation of sewer and watermain, including concrete structures for both reconstruction and new construction projects

Qualifications:

• Previous experience working in a sewer and watermain crew
• Demonstrate organizational skills with strong knowledge and expertise
• Strong work ethic and ability to work in a team environment
• Good health and physical condition
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Works well independently and collaboratively on small or large-scale projects
• Reliable, responsible, and trustworthy
• Must be able to stand, lift 50 lbs., carry, bend, and reach
• Punctual and available to work a minimum of 10 hours per day, 5 days per week
• Must maintain a valid driver’s license
• In-depth knowledge and practice of OHSA safety standards and precautions
• Minimum of 2 years of experience is required in sewer and watermain projects
• Safety training certificates such as First Aid/CPR, WHMIS 2015, Working at Heights, etc.
• Be able to travel to various sites and work in an outdoor environment in various weather conditions
• Be able to work weekends and evenings as occasionally required
