The Instrumentation Technician is a member of the Aquatech team utilizing technical, communication and organizational skills to help support the overall growth of Aquatech’s range of services. The Instrumentation Technician will work closely with Field Operations to perform daily monitoring and maintenance of groundwater control systems, treatment, and filtration systems, as well as promoting safe work practices as per AQUATECH’s Health & Safety Policy. Understanding environmental regulations is a major component of this position, especially as it relates to compliance with discharge flow and water quality objectives.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintain compliance with all environmental regulatory requirements and guidelines.
  • Monitor all pumping and system components daily to ensure proper functioning.
  • Work in compliance to Regulation 903 & Permits to Take Water (MOE).
  • Install, inspect, and monitor water level, flow and quality through instrumentation and submit records as required.
  • Diagnose system and/or mechanical failures on site.
  • Perform adjustments, maintenance, and minor repairs on pumping and discharge filtration systems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on pumps and equipment.
  • Liaise with on-site client, engineering, and agency representatives to ensure all teams are operating within environmental permits and guidelines related to our works.
  • Ability to work weekends and night shift if required.
  • Comply with Aquatech’s H&S Policy, OHSA, and PPE requirements.

Qualifications and Required Experience:

  • Must have a G license.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • General knowledge of the construction industry.
  • Uninhibited ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, push, pull, reach, and grasp.
  • Ability to work in outdoor weather, shop, and job site conditions.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Must have a clean driver’s abstract (will be required to provide upon hiring).
  • Experience with monitoring instrumentation or flow monitoring systems an asset.
  • Experience with pumps, pumping systems, plumbing, filtration, and basic electrical knowledge an asset.
