This position will be a part of the Operations Department Team to assist Project Managers and Project Superintendents to complete projects in a organized and efficient manner.

Job Description

  • Assistant on-site supervision of project managers and construction superintendents in efforts of both regular employees and subcontractors. It’s important to make sure that construction is always carried out in a safe and efficient manner, and they must also ensure quality work within certain deadlines and time-constraints.
  • Records of the work carried out and any safety issues should be kept in an organized manner, as the project may be given a budget to be met. Prior to a job being carried out, may be responsible for creating cost analyses and feasibility studies, and while jobs are in progress, reports regarding things such as quality of output and progress must be created.
  • Some of the work, such as record-keeping, report-writing, analyses, and communication efforts may be done in an office, so computer skills are necessary in this position, though much of the work is done outside while supervising construction progress and they may occasionally be exposed to uncomfortable weather, such as extreme heat.
  • Some assistant construction superintendents may also be expected to carry out some construction duties personally.

Required Skills

  • Monitor daily activities and compile reports on progress, compliance, and obstacles.
  • Inspect completed and in progress structures and sites for safety, compliance, and conforming to material and structural needs.
  • Enforce safety and legal regulations to ensure a safe job site.
  • Communicate with subcontractors and field staff to ensure adherence to schedules, plans, and specifications.

Required Experience

  • Building and Construction – Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of civil infrastructure, roads, or grading.
  • Mathematics – Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
  • Design – Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • English Language — Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Engineering and Technology — Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
  •  Knowledge of AutoCAD software is a plus.
  • 0 to 1+ years related experience in the construction industry.
