What You’ll Do

  • Design major civil projects (including buildings, bridges, and water management systems)
  • Develop construction specifications to meet regulatory requirements
  • Monitor air, water, and soil quality
  • Create procedures to clean up contaminated sites
  • Analyze survey and field data
  • Prepare reports at all stages of the process

Role Requirements

To become a Civil Engineer, you’ll need to:

  • Get a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related discipline
  • Receive licensure from a provincial association of professional engineers

Find a College Program

Get the education you need by completing a Civil Engineering program at one of Ontario’s accredited institutions.

Get Your License

After you get at least 48 months of engineering experience, you’re eligible for more opportunities. Apply for a P.Eng. (professional engineer) license by contacting Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO). If your undergraduate degree is in technology or another field, consider applying for PEO’s Limited License.
