Estimator (Heavy Civil Construction)
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Estimator to join our team and prepare accurate, competitive cost estimates for our heavy civil projects. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of heavy civil construction methods, materials, and industry standards, coupled with proven experience in estimating and bid preparation. You will play a crucial role in securing new projects and contributing to our continued growth. This position commences on or about April 1, 2025.

Key Responsibilities:
Cost Estimation and Analysis
Develop detailed cost projections, including material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor expenses, by completing precise quantity surveys.
Interpret design documents, such as blueprints and specifications, to define project parameters and requirements.
Generate economic viability analyses and initial cost projections for proposed ventures.
Calculate anticipated overhead and general operating expenses.
Analyze project financial flows and funding requirements.
Track and adjust contract expenditures throughout the duration of the project.
Bid Preparation and Submission
Generate and submit comprehensive estimate summaries, price quotations, and bid documents.
Analyze Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and contractual agreements, preparing detailed cost proposals and finalized bid submissions within specified deadlines.
Provide guidance on bidding procedures and evaluate bids to recommend contract awards.
Source and identify local subcontractors and suppliers, request price quotations, and create comparative analysis reports.
Conduct price negotiations with suppliers and subcontractors to secure optimal rates.
Conduct on-site inspections to validate project conditions and confirm information.
Ensure timely and accurate submission of all bid documentation.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Communication
Engage and communicate with municipal officials, engineers, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors regarding project cost estimates.
Collaborate with project managers and field teams to monitor costs and maintain budget adherence.
Provide support for pre-qualification submissions for client presentations.
Assist in the compilation of project files and maintain all supporting documentation for estimates.
Participate in project planning sessions and contribute cost-saving recommendations.
Documentation and Reporting
Maintain well-organized records of estimates, bids, contracts, and project-related communications.
Communicate effectively with project managers, clients, and suppliers.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience:
Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a construction estimator, preferably in civil infrastructure projects.
Familiarity with municipal contracts and civil construction industry standards.
Experience with take-offs and estimating for a variety of construction activities.
Ability to conduct physical on-site takeoffs and measurements.
Technical Skills:
Demonstrated experience using a construction estimating software suite. Proficiency with the B2W suite, specifically B2W Estimate and B2W Track, is considered a strong asset.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and related software.

COMPENSATION:
Salary $70,000.00-$100,000.00 per year (depending on experience)
