**Job Summary**
Machina Construction is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented **Health & Safety Officer / Project Coordinator** to support both jobsite safety compliance and project administration. This hybrid role is responsible for maintaining a safe working environment while assisting with project coordination, documentation, and communication across construction teams. The successful candidate will help ensure that projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
**Key Responsibilities**
**Health & Safety Responsibilities**
* Implement and enforce company health and safety policies and procedures across all project sites.
* Conduct regular jobsite safety inspections and hazard assessments.
* Ensure compliance with applicable occupational health and safety legislation and industry standards.
* Lead safety meetings, toolbox talks, and safety training sessions.
* Investigate incidents, near misses, and injuries, and prepare detailed reports with corrective actions.
* Maintain safety documentation including safety logs, incident reports, and compliance records.
* Coordinate with site supervisors and subcontractors to ensure safe work practices are followed.
* Support the development and improvement of the company’s safety program.
**Project Coordination Responsibilities**
* Assist project managers with planning, scheduling, and coordinating construction activities.
* Track project progress, milestones, and deliverables to ensure timelines are met.
* Prepare and maintain project documentation including RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, and reports.
* Coordinate communication between project managers, site teams, subcontractors, and clients.
* Assist with procurement tracking, material deliveries, and site logistics.
* Monitor project budgets and assist with cost tracking and reporting.
* Support project closeout documentation and compliance records.
**Qualifications**
* Strong knowledge of construction safety regulations and best practices.
* Health and Safety certifications (e.g., OHSA training, First Aid/CPR, WHMIS) are considered an asset.
* Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and construction project management software is an asset.
* Ability to work both in the field and in an office environment.
* Valid driver’s license may be required for site visits.
